No, we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in the Netherlands the way you do. But I did some research and discovered that there used to be some sort of Thanksgiving celebration but that was a long time ago, in the Middle Ages. At that time there were set days for certain prayers. In 1653 they decided that that wasn’t enough so they made the first Wednesday of November a sort of Thanksgiving Day. It’s was celebrated with a lot of prayers and a dinner. Nowadays only people from the Protestant church celebrate this day.

It's really just a way to have more sales in the stores unfortunately I think sometimes...
