This was supposed to be a lovely bright red flowering Lobelia by now, but the wet and damp conditions have turned my garden into the place to be for snails :(
I think I’ll have to check all their usual hiding places again and remove them all…..grrr!
Escargot anyone?

I totally agree. If I find them near, they get thrown over the fence onto the railway, so hopefully they will trouble the good people of Exeter or Bristol, up the line. I have lost tomatoes, various herbs, aubergines, all sorts to the little bastards
Yack! We've been really lucky this year and, touch wood, my plants are still in one piece.
i kick them when i see them in my garden. they are nasty. my brother used to put salt on them. now thats nastier.
Get the garlic butter out ;)

I bought 6 new plants and got a couple more from friends and they are all gone :’(

In the past they disgusted me so much I couldn’t even kick them, Boo, nowadays I just pick them up, put them in a containers and toss them out.

:( Oh..I was going to write that I like them and they are so cute, but I am sorry about your garden. I barely saw any snails in the U.S. even when I lived in Indiana, but there are snails all over Nick's parents' town of Kirchheimbolanden (Germany). Maybe if I had a garden I'd feel differently, but I like them and I do think they are cute. I see on Boo's comment that her brother puts salt on them. I saw my sis-in-law do that once and I was mortified. :( ... Anyway, I really am sorry about your garden.
Don’t feel bad, Krissa. I can fully understand that there are people out there who really like (or sometimes even love) snails. Sometimes when I come across a beautiful photo on flickr I can actually be amazed by their beauty, but when I find them in my garden it’s a different story. The first time I started looking for them I found 60 snails (and I don’t even have a very large garden).
I don’t put salt on them, that’s too cruel. I am against torture!
Hate the nasty slimy things, and I don't even have a garden.
I once read a travel article about hiking in the forests around Seattle and the forests being full of snail trails - well if it had been on my list of "things to do" it would have been struck right off!
To keep them off his plants, my grandad used to put out beer for them: the slugs can't resist it, climb the glass, drink their fill, then fall in, drunk - and drown. And, presumably, die happy.
I've always liked snails and slugs too, BUT I'm not a gardener, and totally get how maddening and frustrating it would be to be plagued by them, so on your behalf I'm placing a non-toxic but completely effective curse on any that you have. ;)
Normally I would use beer traps too, Qaminante but I can’t use them now because of the rain. The beer gets watery and snails, like most men, don’t like diluted beer!

It is so wet in the country the slugs and snails have drowned.

I love slugs and snails, they're just so odd and slooow; however, they are obviously no good for that plant :[

Funny, that you should say you like slugs and snails because they are so slooow, DoGGa, because last week I noticed that they can actually move quite speedily when it is raining and they are going out for a nice meal (aka some of my favourite plants).
